'Casa da Torrinha' is one of those maybe 'once in a lifetime' windows of chance.
Inside the Serra da Arrabida Natural Park,'Casa da Torinha' is located at 275m high above the sea, at the highest peak of Serra de S. Francisco mountain, with an amazing 360º 30km wide view, covering stunning scenarios such as the Troia peninsula, the Palmela Castle, the 'Mar da Palha', a large bay in front of Lisbon up to the Sintra mountain and the entire Barris Valey at the mountain foothills.
The Serra da Arrabida Natural Park covers an area of over 100 square kilometres and is only about a 30 minute drive south from the capital city of Lisbon. It was given protected status as a national park in 1976 to preserve its natural beauty. Whilst the park and its beaches are popular with day-trippers from the city, few tourists are aware of its existence.
The chain of elevations in the parke.g., the hills of S. Luis, Gaiteiros, S. Francisco and Louroreach their highest peak in Serra da Arrabida (499 metres (1,637 ft)), covered in Mediterranean-like vegetation and have a particular microclimate.
The park offers beautiful natural scenery and is known for its steep hills and green shrubs. Visitors can enjoy wonderful views of the sea from the many hiking trails which criss-cross the park. The sheltered bay below is famous for being home to a large pod of dolphins which lucky visitors might catch a glimpse of leaping in and out the surf. The trails are rarely busy and offer an excellent tranquil and natural getaway from the noise of the nearby city of Lisbon. Look out for wild boars which are common in the shrubs and sometimes even come down to the coastline.
Amazing beaches such as Portinho da Arrabida, Figueirinha, Galapinhos, etc. are 30 min away, with calm waters and wonderful fish restaurants. Overlooking the three beaches is the Convento de Nossa Senhora da Arrabida (Convent of Our Lady of Arrabida), a former monastery established in the 16th century, managed today by the Fundacao Oriente.
With a short ferry ride across the Sado Estuary from Setubal, one has access to 13-mile long Troia Peninsula, narrow sand spit with continuous beaches overlooking the Atlantic, a famous and challenging Golf Course, and the Troia Casino close to the glamorous marina, restaurants and beach bars, etc.
'Casa da Torrinha' (small tower house) is an excellent, unique and isolated two-story and 3-bedroom house with ground floor, basement and shelter/guest house. Inside the Serra da Arrabida Natural Park it is forbidden to build any new housing, so exclusivity is ensured.
The 1.2 hectare site faces south, and descends the hill to the Barris Valley. It has an agricultural exploration license and exceptional conditions for producing wine in an area of designation of origin controlled (DOC) and privileged in terms of natural purity.
