The Agence Varenne celebrates its 25th anniversary

Straddling the Right and Left Banks of Paris, between Place St Sulpice, Rue Barbet de Jouy and Avenue Georges V, the Agence Varenne, exclusive partner of the Savills Group for residential properties in Paris, is celebrating its 25th anniversary. The chance for its co-founder, Hugues de La Morandière, to reflect on the road travelled thus far, and his vision of the profession…

“I am more interested in the future than the past, though several things stand out when I look back on how far we have come. First of all, the incredible evolution of our profession due to the great impact of the Internet, which has made us rethink our way of doing things and develop a real culture dedicated to service. When I started out, the profession was looked upon quite rightfully with mixed feelings ; today, thanks to the impetus given by the top estate-agencies, there is a movement aimed at transforming the industry, and higher capabilities when it comes to meeting client expectations. Reliable estimates, rigour and transparency in commercial folllow-up, intelligent marketing of international scope, and sound advice, the real added value of the services we provide. Then, with regard to clients, there is an unfailing desire for living accommodation which ensures well-being, an anchorage point for pursuing their dreams ; this desire asserts itself even more clearly as mobility and the virtual world gain more and more ground in our lives. There are also things which haven’t changed - so much the better ! The quality of a relationship, which is the prelude to the achievement of a project, the timeless enchantment of certain places which discreetly continues to cast its spell, and changes which mark major milestones in our lives. Our imagination set to work to reintroduce life and beauty into places that are too conventional or impersonal. We are very fortunate to pursue our profession in Paris ; every morning, when I walk along the quaysides, I can’t help but marvel at the sight of the bridges spanning the Seine, the very distinctive silhouette of the rooftops.
