Paris Ouest Sotheby’s International Realty

Representing the prestigious global network of Sotheby’s International Realty for more than 10 years, the Paris Ouest agencies are regarded as benchmarks among a wealthy French and international clientele in search of outstanding properties in the capital. Encounter with Geoffrey Benoit, Manager of the Elysées-Monceau agency.

Founded in London in 1744, Sotheby’s, the world’s oldest auction house for artworks and precious objects, has exercised its influence at the top end of the property market for over 50 years. It elitest image draws a clientele of equal distinction and affluence, as Geoffrey Benoit explains : “We deal with public celebrities, heads of state, royal families, and leading industrialists who dispose of very substantial budgets and are characterized by their very high demands. The values upheld by our teams enable us to win the loyalty of this clientele : transparency, ethics, confidentiality and honesty being among the most important. Eighty percent of our portfolio consists of high-end properties, of which a significant share is addressed off-market”. With regard to the Paris market and the global situation in 2020, Geoffrey Benoit explains : “After the first lockdown, activity was very lively from May 15th to July 30th with, in particular, an explosion in demand for apartments with balconies or terraces, which sold at very high prices if they were of quality. The month of August was very quiet, September more active, and the last quarter has been very lively. The Parisian market is no longer homogeneous, it has been split into two parts : properties with major defects have seen sharp drops in value and brutal bargaining, while high-quality properties sell very quickly, at very expensive prices. At the end of November, for example, we set our signature to the sale of an outstanding property which fetched 19 million euros on the west side of Paris. We are also seeing a significant comeback on the part of French and foreign investors who, due to the volatility of financial markets, invest in real estate to safeguard their wealth, with Paris seen as one of the most attractive capitals. Thanks to new technologies, we can offer virtual tours/Facetime of quality, and complete sales easily at a distance with an international clientele subjected to travel restrictions”.
