What’s your idea of the perfect bedroom ? Ideally, it would be luminous, comfortable and sobre. For me, it’s vital that the bathroom should be en-suite. A bathroom rather like a sitting-room, with an armchair and enough room to pamper oneself. I would organize the space by using sliding doors. In fact, I have two very different, though complementary, ideas of the bedroom : it should be a haven of tranquillity yet open, to include family life. Not admitted : a television ! What are the main items of furnishing and accessories that should compose the bedroom ? The essential items are a large bed, lots of pillows, a cosy blanket, a cotton bedcover for summer and one in fur for winter. It’s a room in which one must be able to subdue the light with the use of blinds, shutters, bedside lamps with variators. As for fabrics, what’s new on the scene ? Fashion dictates Egyptian cotton, satin cotton, Percale, flocked motifs, woven tone-on-tone Jacquards. And colours ? There you have the choice between dull, elegant hues like those used by Calvin Klein or Armani, and rich, warm tones like those favoured by Kenzo. Or, perhaps, very feminine shades, in powder rose and mauve (signed Alexandre Turpault).
