Luxury apartment facing the Arc de Triomphe

Occupying the third floor of an elegant Haussmann building on Avenue Marceau, this prestigious apartment has been entirely redesigned and decorated by Gérard Faivre. It has retained its period features, now brilliantly combined with contemporary elements. A pied-à-terre in which we rediscover the talent and ingeniousness of designer Gérard Faivre and his knack of creating unique homes basking in comfort and luxury…

A star tourist attraction which has lost none of its appeal, the area around the Avenue des Champs-Elysées is also a choice address for luxury homes. It is here, on Avenue Marceau, that Gérard Faivre has just completed the conversion of his latest showcase : a through apartment of 272 m2 offering a plunging view of the Arc de Triomphe. This property proposing graphic design is based on a theme exploring the relationship between time and space, earth and sky. Several walls are covered by mirrors which play with space to give a feeling of immensity, while a palette of colours blending greys and blues echos the changing nuances of the sky. Boldness which overthrows the codes of the Haussmann style to allow for a special dreamlike atmosphere. Here, a silvery cloudy sky painted on the ceiling, there a blue carpet which seems to reflect the sky, further on vases made of semi-precious stones which could well have fallen to earth, a lunar wall-light in the hallway, and everywhere a succession of artworks, paintings and photographs perpetuating this notion of time standing still. While some walls are decorated with patterns echoing mashrabiyas, the beautiful dining-room plays on reflections : mirrored walls which face each other, enshrouding the room in a very special light. It is prolonged by the kitchen which is discovered through sliding doors and reiterates with flair the materials used for the dining-room. These beautiful lines set off comfortable appointments, in the bedrooms too : in perfect harmony with the overall spirit, three spacious suites bask in elegance and sensuality, sharing the same palette of colours and materials. An ode to an inspired fantasy, the apartment adopts a style composed of opulence, distinction and discerning modernity. "For this apartment inspired by earth and sky," explains Gérard Faivre, "I borrowed certain features such as the mashrabiya while on a trip to Marrakesh, though the overall impression is mainly characterized by a very French style. The high moulded ceilings, parquet floors and fireplaces are strong elements that I have preserved and set off with noble materials, works of art and contemporary furniture".

Spacious and bright, the main suite basks in a special atmosphere in various shades of grey. It has kept its original parquet floor and treats itself to the charm of vintage lamps set in niches lined with "Quartz" wall-paper from Hermès.
