MC20 Maserati, Italian-style charm

MC for Maserati Corse, 20 in reference to 2020… A highly symbolic name to mark the Modena firm’s return to competitive driving.

In 2004, the MC12 marked the Trident’s return to racing after an absence of 37 years, winning 22 races and 14 titles in only six years. The MC20 aims to become its worthy heir. A Nettuno engine throbs on board : technology patented by Maserati and inspired by Formula 1, a powerful 630 hp 3-litre V6. This supercar weighs less than 1,500 kg on the scales, including 100 kg for its carbon fibre monocoque structure, an exceptional power/ weight ratio allowing for surprising spurts. Solid, fast and safe, the MC20 boasts amazing resistance to twists and turns. The car achieves 0-100 km in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 325 km/h. The thermal model comes in four versions : GT, Sport, Corsa and Wet.

Inside, make way for digitalisation : a TFT screen that can be personalised and a connected infotainment system, both measuring 10.25 inches. Nothing superfluous in the passenger compartment ; each item corresponds to a functional need. On the central carbon fibre console, the driving mode selector is clearly inspired by luxury watches. Minimalist, certainly, but always elegant, with Alcantara and refined leather. The MC20 also treats itself to the exclusiveness of an ultra-premium audio system : Sonus Faber.

Ergonomic design extends to the choice of gullwing doors, and the racy 2-seater coupe presents clearly assumed front air intakes and an athletic rear diffuser. The car’s chromatic palette is decidedly trendy.

To deliver the MC20, Maserati has endowed itself with new facilities, a paint shop and a second one required for construction of the electric model. “While waiting for the Spider,” one hears. Priced at 220,000 €, the MC20 is expected to hit the road at the end of 2021.
