Maserati unveils the MC20 at Goodwood

During the 27th edition of the Festival of Speed held in July 2021, Maserati presented for the first time its super sports car capable of attaining a top speed of 300 km/hr.

Fifteen years after perfecting the MC12, the last supercar of this manufacturer with the trident logo, with a production run of about 60 models, the MC20 completed its warm-up lap in West Sussex in the UK. Goodwood’s 1.6 mile track was a real playground for this 2-seater mid-engine model. Fitted with a carbon fibre monocoque chassis, this beautiful car of pure, aerodynamic design, sleekly sculptured but also imposing, weighs in at a mere 1,500 kg on the scales. With a powerful twin-turbo 3.0L V6 engine worthy of F1 cars, answering to the gentle name of Nettuno in reference to Neptune, god of the sea, it proudly posts a power-to-weight ratio allowing for a jaw-dropping top speed and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in under 2.9 seconds, with 630 hp under the hood.

Mounted on 20” wheels, the MCS20 is no less than 1.97 metres wide, 4.67 metres long and almost 1.22 metres high. Its butterfly wing doors open to reveal the carbon fibre interior. Double triangulated suspensions guarantee quality steering. Essential in this modern era, gone are the Trident’s typical acoustics and thus the noise pollution of the V8, much-loved by Maserati fans. The 10.25’’ screen gives access to Google services and Alexa, Amazon’s famous “assistant”. The MC20 starts from 220,000 € in an already highly competitive market segment.
