GRANTURISMO FOLGORE, AN ELECTRIC MODEL SIGNED... MASERATI
830 hp and three 300-kW electric motors throb beneath the hood. The aptly named “Folgore”, meaning “Lightning” in Italian, incorporates technical features starting with the battery, for which low positioning of the seats has not been sacrificed.
The cutting-edge, 800-volt “T-bone” battery is located in the central tunnel, in place and stead of the V6, and behind the rear seats. The manufacturer announces recharging of 20 to 80 % in 18 minutes. This superb GranTurismo chalks up 2,260 kg on the scales, a weight which does not prevent it from posting 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 8.8 seconds. Even though artificial, its sound resembles that produced by a V8.
The GranTurismo Folgore travels 450 km on one full battery charge and attains a top speed of 320 km/h. Its capacity for acceleration is only equalled by its agility. Thanks to a dedicated app, its lucky owners can access a network of over 400,000 charging stations in Europe and receive their own wall-box to be installed in their home.
The 20/21’’diamond-cut Aero wheels in gloss black improve the vehicle’s aerodynamic efficiency, while the side vents come in a shade of electric blue. The interior ambiance is inspired by the Aurora Borealis phenomenon. Seat upholstery, pillars, sun visors and the ceiling are made of recycled nylon fibre. The dashboard has no buttons or panels thanks to the technology of “high frequency” leather printing.
As soon as the destination is selected, the 12.3’’ screen posts the predicted state of charge on arrival, with charging options on the way. Maserati GranTurismo Folgore prices start at 196,950 €.
