Since his first exhibition in 1943, the path followed by Ladislas Kijno has always been remarkably impressive. This artist of Franco-Polish origin proposes works in diverse materials (acrylic, crumpled paper, gouache, glycero-spray...), whose only constant seems to be a roundness in the forms. This roundness adds a certain softness to complex canvases with flamboyant colours but sombre overtones which are often hard to interpret but which always offer a glimpse of the insubordinate character of a man fighting to survive, to understand and permanently question what life should be. Actions he undertakes with exemplary energy. This exhibition featuring about 60 of his masterpieces bears witness to his outstanding career, still “under construction”... Until April 29th, Centre d’art la Malmaison, Cannes (04 97 06 44 90).
