With Harry Lapp as artistic director and John McLaughlin as sponsor, the new edition and new programming of the Nice Jazz Festival promises to be rather flamboyant ! No longer staged in the Roman Arenas of Cimiez, the event is moving back to its original haunts : the Théâtre de Verdure and the gardens on Square Albert 1er. It will thus be more open, more accessible, more urban. Harry Lapp proposes a judicious programme, aiming to “re-endow the Festival with artistic coherence, especially in the layout of the stages, and by varying the styles of music between the two venues, in order to reach the widest public possible”. To mention just a few, you will be able to see Michel Legrand, Carlinhos Brown, Michel Portal, Morcheeba, Avishai Cohen, Macy Gray, Ahmad Jamal, Aloe Blacc and, of course, Maceo Parker, an absolute must.
