Axel Pahlavi

Born in Teheran, a graduate of the Beaux-Arts in Paris, Axel Pahlavi spent part of his adolescence in Nice and now lives and works in Berlin. To be followed very closely, the work of this artist sees itself as baroque : it confronts real and imaginary worlds in hyper-realist canvases. Pahlavi’s work as a colorist with its play on light is compelling, sometimes disturbing, but above all fascinating. Encompassing the human figure, underground worlds, death, science, religious painting and comic strips, Axel Pahlavi excels in his work on human flesh, not hesitating to explore it beneath all its coverings. Accessible to all, the exhibition “Car je suis malade d’amour” proposes 15 large canvases staging the artist’s muse : his wife, the artist Florence Obrecht. From March 2nd to June 2nd, Galerie de la Marine, 59, quai des Etats-Unis, Nice (04 93 62 37 11)
