In the medieval castle of the small town of Avise, on the edge of Valdigne, we offer you an elegant penthouse on two levels, in perfect condition. On the ground floor the large room with the fireplace and the two large pieces of furniture intended to display the pewter collection and the "safe room" on the upper floor, they can offer an eloquent insight into the habits and standard of living of the middle-upper bourgeoisie of a village in the Aosta Valley in the second half of the 19th century. In turn, the "hall of shelves" on the first floor composed of 14 wooden shelves carved with figures of animals, monsters and characters in fifteenth-century clothes, bears witness to decorative choices that align the Avise commission with a specific trend of "official" taste. The traces of different architectural phases in the structure of the castle (walled doors, insertions of windows and walls), as well as the presence of ancient stone elements (architraves, window frames), fragments of paintings, decorations, graffiti... are all elements that testify to the real complexity of overlaps in its history.
