PROPERTY - This medieval castle was built after the year 1000 as a watch tower. It was first owned by the Aldobrandeschi family and, from the mid-13th century, was entrusted by the Sienese to the influential Baschi family, which has always contended it with the Orsini family of Pitigliano for its militarily strategic position.
Subsequently, it was under the Republic of Siena until the mid-16th century, when it became part of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. From the mid-1800s until the end of the 1900s it was used as a farm building to serve the farmers who worked the surrounding land. Thanks to a recent renovation, the residence has returned to its ancient beauty, ready to be used as an exclusive and charming residence.
After passing through the entrance gate, one drives along a cement driveway lined with trees and arrives at the top of the knoll, where we find a courtyard paved with stone slabs and a garden from which, by climbing some stairs, we access the house.
This is spread over four levels: on the ground floor we find a large living area embellished with an antique fireplace; on the basement floor a large kitchen, a pantry and two service bathrooms; on the first floor we have a living room with fireplace, a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and on the upper floor a dressing room and a small bedroom, two other large bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and a multipurpose room that can also be accessed through a secondary external entrance. A modern iron and glass staircase, located in the hall, gives access to the watchtower, which can be used either as a study or as a bedroom. From the roof of the tower one can enjoy a 360° panorama of the unspoilt green hills of the Fiora and Albegna, as far as the foot of Monte Amiata. Near the castle there is also a dependance with living area and two bedrooms with en-suite bathroom and a large cellar in the basement.
The property is surrounded by 52 hectares of land, part of which is garden land with the presence of oaks and centuries-old olive trees, while approximately 7 hectares are destined for olive groves in production, the remaining 20 hectares for arable land and 23 hectares for coppice woodland. To reach the property, one drives along an unpaved road for approximately 1.8 km. A high car or 4x4 is recommended. This skilfully restored property is suitable for various uses: residential and representative or tourist-receptive, ideal for hosting events and receptions.
LOCATION - The castle is located in the southern part of the Maremma, a land that has no equal in terms of variety and beauty. Here, history and wilderness blend perfectly to create unique scenarios. The beauty of the surrounding nature and the tranquility of the place convey a positive energy that allows the owners to relax and recharge their batteries.
