Listed as an historic monument, a fascinating castle stands proudly at the centre of a village : built on the ruins of a 12th-century Templar Commandery, a feudal castle from the 14th century, its stones bear the imprint of the passing centuries. Today, it is in an excellent state of repair thanks to the owner who has lovingly restored it over the years, retrieving all the splendour of its architecture : thus, an exceptional ogive in a turret dates back to the château's origins. To the east, composed of a rectangular frame on two floors plus attics, it was treated in the 15th century to a round tower with battlements, leading us to the sentries' walkway. From here, one's gaze is struck by a dizzying 306° view, and one easily imagines the sentry doing his rounds to safeguard the castle and village from invaders. As for the gardens, a wing to the west opens up the castle and its facade with three gargoyles overlooks a huge terrace at the heart of a park with century-old trees in front of the salons. The entire basement is occupied by a cellar and the kitchens of yesteryear with enormous hearths where they spit-roasted game for receptions. On the southern facade, one finds a chapel with a single nave and its bell tower. At the far end, a small door leads to a vaulted sacristy. Behind the château, an old sheepfold has been fully renovated. 1,570 m² for a majestic domain. Eleven apartments have been created within these walls, where you can still find the lofty volumes of yesteryear. One dreams of living here as in the past : from anti-chambers to bedrooms, staterooms to reception rooms, in which troubadours and minstrels spent entire evenings singing the ballads of yesteryear…
