Bentley Bentayga, a vision of excellence

On the programme for this British SUV presented as the fastest in the world, we find sporty performance and innovative technologies, a 608-hp W12 biturbo engine and a top speed of 301 km/h.

Based on the EXP 9-F concept revealed almost four years ago at the Geneva Motor Show, the Bentayga is impressive, more than 5 metres long and 1.75 m high. With regard to its weight of 2,350 kg, Bentley prides itself on a mass 236 kg lighter than the competition. Which consists of what, exactly ? Has a diehard focus on luxury perhaps isolated the surprising Bentayga from its peers, including the sacrosanct Range Rover ? This “so British” model attains a top speed of 301 km/h and leaps from standstill to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds.

The passenger compartment reflects the style and stylishness so dear to Bentley : veneers, silky carpetting, metal inserts, leather sometimes overstitched, sometimes padded. This devotion to tradition does not deprive the refined SUV of spearhead attributes : a screen for each passenger at the rear, electric multifunction seats, and the inevitable Internet connection. Fans of outdoor feasts will be delighted to discover the joys proposed by the picnic kit stored, if not hidden, in the trunk. They are invited to a very refined excursion in the open air with crystal glasses, silver tableware and a mini-refrigerator, provided by the firm based in Crewe. Each owner can then opt for equipment for gourmet pauses, or personalize the car’s interior even further. The design of the Bentayga recalls that of the Continental GT, adorned with chrome details and double round headlamps. The driver’s area features a sporty steering wheel beneath a panoramic roof. The Bentayga’s production in itself provides 1,500 jobs, with 130 working hours per car.
